IELTS WRITING SECTION

1. Understand the Scoring Criteria:
Unlike the Reading and Listening section of the IELTS test, the evaluation criteria for IELTS writing has been open to public. It is important for you to understand what IELTS examiners are looking for your targeted band score.

2. Read the Question:
Whether you are taking IELTS Academic or General Training, spend a few minutes to read the task prompt and get a clear understanding of what is being asked.

3. Planning:
You need to plan what you will write and have a clear structure with introduction, body, conclusion. Be sure to use supporting sentences.

4. Vocabulary:
IELTS Writing is the skill where candidates lose the most marks. Therefore, if you have been taking the time practice writing and building your vocabulary, avoid repetition.

5. Grammar:
Another important part to be careful of is your grammar. Knowing your parts of speech will be helpful indeed.

6. Review: Pace yourself and be sure to leave some time at the end to check for any mistakes such as punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc.

7. Practice:
Whether it is Task 1 or Task 2, review samples and practice. Focus on both analyzing data, and writing essays to succeed in IELTS Writing.
