IELTS – TEST DAY
Like any exam, preparation is the key to succeed in the IELTS Test. There can be multiple emotions and feelings a candidate can experience such as test anxiety or common exam stress. Here are some basic yet important tips to help you prepare for the test day:
1. Get Rest:
Be sure to get a good night’s sleep so you are fresh in the morning. If your mind and body are relaxed, you can focus better.
2. Feed Your Hunger:
Eat healthy and try to avoid junk food. Avoid going to the exam on an empty stomach.
3. Stationery:
Whether you are taking a Paper-based or Computer-based test, review your test centre’s guidelines and bring proper supplies such as pencils, pens, erasers, sharpener or leads if you use a mechanical pencil, etc.
4. Important Documents:
Be sure to check the requirements of your test centre, and bring a copy of your registration document (paper / digital), and a valid government issued photo identification (e.g. passport), which you used at the time of registration; without which you may not be allowed to sit for the test.
5. Pay Attention:
You need to stay focused to avoid distractions. Remain calm and follow the instructions provided by the invigilator. Look in your paper / screen only, and read questions thoroughly to understand what exactly is being asked.
6. Check & Recheck:
Make sure to leave some time at the end of each section to check your answers. If you have paced yourself well, you can also recheck to correct any mistakes or leaving anything incomplete
7. Manage Time:
This may be the last tip here, but it is of utmost importance. Stay organized and effectively utilize your time by knowing your test centre location and arriving early; keeping an eye on the clock to track your time;, not spending too much time on one question; leaving extra time at the end to check answers; not exceeding allotted break time, and so on.
