IELTS – READING SECTION
1. Read Questions Carefully:
Quickly read the questions before you the passage so you can pay attention to details and avoid common mistakes that test takers made in IELTS Reading.
2. Skimming / Scanning:
More than understanding the entire passage, these two skills can help you score higher in the reading section.
3. Vocabulary:
Like any language, vocabulary is the key to be able to communicate effectively. The top two ways you can build your English vocabulary for IELTS is through reading and listening.
4. Paraphrasing:
Similar to vocabulary, grammar is equally important and can help you with paraphrasing (both understanding questions and writing answers).
5. Predictability:
Read the title and try to predict what the passage shall be about or what may come next, focusing on the hook and thesis statements.
6. Practice:
There are certain complexities in the Reading section of IELTS, but nothing which cannot be tackled with practice. If you can focus and practice reading under test conditions, you should be alright.
7. Manage Time: Reading can also be tricky and requires you to be calm and focused. Track your time and avoid getting stuck on a single question for too long.
