How to Prepare for IELTS ?

Any time someone wants to prepare for IELTS, their goal is to score a high band. However, to achieve a high score, candidates need to focus and commit to understanding the test strategies and to practice as much as they can. There are many ways a candidate can practice for IELTS, which include:

Cambridge IELTS Test Books

You can find many Official IELTS Practice Materials available on the IELTS website that can help you get familiarized with the format of the test, types of questions, understanding the evaluation criteria, prepare for test day, and even test samples and mock practice. Cambridge University Press has it's own Authentic IELTS Practice Tests as well.

Other Resources

There are many additional resources you can find, both in print and on-line. For example, there are other publishers as well who have released their own Practice Tests for IELTS in the form of books and Speaking Cards, etc. Furthermore, the Internet is loaded with content and materials, which may or may not be authentic, hence you can use your discretion when using IELTS content online, which can be in the form of text or videos.

Private Tutoring Service

Depending on where you live in the world, you can access private tutoring service, which can be both in-person or on-line. You may find tutors who are ESL/EFL professionals that can teach you English at Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels; but IELTS tests your overall ability to communicate effectively in English and evaluates each of the 4 skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Be sure to choose a private tutor who is trained in teaching IELTS and one who is familiar with IELTS.
